Orange juice is a family favourite in our home—especially among the kids. Unfortunately, an orange juice spill can cause a permanent stain on your carpet if it isn’t addressed promptly.
paper towel or clean white cloths or towels
white vinegar
dishwashing detergent
warm and cold water
dry cloth
fan (if available)
Time is of the essence! We recommend following the steps below for the best results.
Press a clean towel onto the stain to absorb as much juice as possible. We find that standing on the towel helps compress the spill further. If the spill has just occurred, this method should work well.
White vinegar is an excellent option for removing orange juice from the carpet. Our technicians recommend wetting the area with vinegar to let it work its magic. Dab the vinegar onto a clean cloth (rather than directly onto the carpet), and then gently blot and roll the cloth over the stain.
While vinegar works well on this type of spill, you can also try adding a few drops of dishwashing detergent to 150ml of warm water. Blot the area dry and then rinse with cold water to eliminate any sticky residue.
Rinse the area liberally with cold water to remove any vinegar residue. Dry the area by patting it with another clean cloth or paper towel. For faster drying, place a fan near the damp area and let it run for a few hours.
Note:
Some orange juice brands contain colouring additives that can re-dye your carpet if the stain is left untreated for too long.
This process should remove or fade the stain if you act quickly. Remember that these methods take time—be patient and continue until you see improvement.
