Some cleaners use the same method for all upholstered furniture, regardless of the delicacy of the fabric. At Electrodry, we know that different materials need different methods and that some fabrics are more likely to bleed colour than others. All that aside, here’s our standard 4-step process:
Vacuum the carpet to remove loose dirt.
We use a dry cleaning solution to break down oils and grease.
We sanitise your sofa using cleaning products infused with Healthguard, to kill bacteria.
We use a hot water extraction to rinse everything out of the couch. It should be dry again in 4-6 hours.

Couches come in all different shapes, materials and patterns, and different fabrics present different challenges. At Electrodry, we’ve developed different procedures for different kinds of material, to make sure that we clean your couch or sofa without damaging the material.
These fabrics are often delicate, and are prone to watermarking if they get too wet. So instead of cleaning them using hot water extraction, we clean them by hand. This involves applying dry cleaning solutions that break down stains, and then doing the cleaning rinse with cloths, by hand. This method is sometimes less effective than hot water extraction, but it will prevent damage.

The risk with natural coloured fabrics is colour migration or bleeding. To prevent this, we use a pre-spray to stabilise the colours. After that, we can generally proceed as normal with dry cleaning solutions and hot water extraction.
